John W. Buoymaster
John Buoymaster is Co-Chair and Managing Director of Hall Capital Partners LLC. He is a member of the firm's Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Investment Review Committee, in addition to having direct portfolio management and relationship responsibility for a number of the firm's clients. Mr. Buoymaster is also Chair of Laurel Trust Company, a Nevada chartered private trust company that is wholly owned by Hall Capital Partners LLC.
Mr. Buoymaster joined the firm in 1998 as Managing Director. Previously, he was a Vice President in the San Francisco office of J.P. Morgan & Co. At J.P. Morgan, Mr. Buoymaster advised individuals and families on investment strategy, portfolio structuring and generational planning. From 1977 through 1991, Mr. Buoymaster was associated with the San Francisco and Palo Alto law firm of Cooley Godward Castro Huddleson & Tatum, and was a partner in that firm from 1984 through 1991. His practice concentrated on estate and tax planning and estate and trust administration, primarily for venture capitalists and founders of emerging companies. He also represented non-profit organizations, including family foundations and non-profit research organizations.
Mr. Buoymaster is a member of the Advisory Board for Kohlberg Investors V, L.P., a private investment partnership. He sits on the Board of Directors and Investment Committee of the NPR Foundation, and he is a member of the Board, the Executive Committee, and the Development Steering Committee of Northern California Public Broadcasting, Inc. (KQED). He also sits on the Board and Investment Committee of the Stuart Foundation, and he is a member of the Stanford Law School Board of Visitors and the Columbia Center for Public Research and Leadership Advisory Council. He previously served as a director or trustee of various non-profit organizations, including Marin Country Day School, The Little School (San Francisco), Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties, and the Children's Health Council.
Mr. Buoymaster graduated magna cum laude from Williams College with a B.A. in Economics and earned a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
