Founder & Managing Partner, HMI Capital
Mick Hellman is the Founder and Managing Partner of HMI Capital, a private investment management firm. Prior to creating HMI Capital in 2008, he spent most of his career at Hellman & Friedman, LLC where he was a Managing Director and a member of the Investment Committee. His primary areas of focus at Hellman & Friedman were specialized aspects of transportation and software and information services companies. Mr. Hellman was instrumental in Hellman & Friedman’s investments in Blackbaud, Hongkong International Terminals, and Mitchell International. He also established Hellman & Friedman’s Hong Kong office in 1992. Prior to joining Hellman & Friedman in 1987, Mr. Hellman worked as a Financial Analyst at Salomon Brothers in San Francisco in the Corporate Finance Department.
Currently, Mr. Hellman serves as a Senior Advisor to Hellman & Friedman. He is also Trustee of the Rosenberg Foundation and the USA Cycling Development Foundation. In addition, Mr. Hellman serves on the Board of Directors for: LPL Financial Holdings Inc., Asia Alternatives LLC, and Osterweis Capital Management, Inc.
Previously, Mr. Hellman served as Chairman of the Board and Member of the Board of Directors of Blackbaud (NYSE: BLKB), Trustee and Investment Committee Chair of Foxcroft School, and Trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation. He was also a Director of Hongkong International Terminals and Mitchell International, and Trustee of the Bay Area Discovery Museum and Marin Country Day School.
Mr. Hellman received a B.A. in Economics with High Distinction from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.B.A. with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
